OK, the rest of South America is going to be posted in quick hits format, because I need to get to blogging the next trip. So, day 15, the second day in Santiago. Ate empanadas; these were different from the Argentine version because they were deep fried gut busters:
Cerro Santa Lucia has a nice view of the city from the center. The viewpoint is from an old fortified castle which is cool to look down upon:
After Cerro Santa Lucia, I walked north towards Cerro San Cristobal, which has an even better view of the city. On the way, I passed the Museo de Bellas Artes:
At the top of Cerro San Cristobal was the first understated church I've seen in South America. No gold to be seen:
The statue of the Virgin Mary at the top of the hill is pretty impressive:
But still not as impressive as the view of Santiago (and its smog):
Got dinner at the Pacific Ocean restaurant near the hostel. It was very highly rated and very...themed. Sadly, I thought my tuna steak tasted way too olive-y to be palatable.
I don't even know what this dish was, but I'm pretty sure I should have gotten it, just for coolness.
